Adorama iPhone Photo Contest

Posted: January 28, 2010 in Photo Blog

Since I have a iPhone, might as well give an attempt at entering into their new contest. Surprisingly, the iPhone takes fairly nice pictures with the right lighting condition. Here are couple of my entries so far. Going to try to take a few more.

Yellow Marker Road
This was taken early in the morning as I was driving to work. Saw the thick fog so I had to pull over and snap this photo. I also had to make sure I don’t get run over.

The Edge
Saw this right outside of my work. The light looks right and the branches were calling my name to take picture of it.

So I decided to try my skills at the Gizmodo’s recent photo contest. The topic was motion blur…
Didn’t win, but at least got it listed on Gizmodo…

Motion Blur

Camera: Canon 5D MKII
Lens: 85mm 1.2L
ISO: 100
Aperture: f/ 1.2
Shutter Speed: 2s
Capture time: 12:15:18AM Jan 21, 2010
I shot the picture in the dark on top of a black piano to get the reflection. I had the wife light the lighter moving only the thumb capture motion blur of lighting the flint and the shooting flame and sparks. The shallow dof keeps only part of the box and lighter in focus.

I worked with Videographer/Photographer George Uibel on designing his website. After discussing with him on his requirement as well as creating a website that’s easy for him to update his portfolio, I ended up leveraging me.com and iWeb platform. It gave George the capability to update his me.com photography portfolio without touching the website at all. It also made my web design a lot simpler using the iWeb platform since it already had a lot of the feature and effects that George likes. Instead of writing a bunch of javascripts from scratch, I could easily use the widget in iWeb.
The site officially launched first of this year. You can see the site at

Music Videos that I worked on

Posted: January 16, 2010 in Video Blog

I been helping out MediaPeeps (Formerly NSR Films) as a 2nd camera man for a couple of their music videos.
All done with Canon 5D MK II and assortment of Canon L lens. For low lights, the 50mm1.2L and 85mm 1.2L was used extensively on Evening Serenity MV.
Most recently, I also help film 2nd camera man for ACE/Cal train training exercise video. The video will be distributed throughout all transportation channels. I’ll post a clip of it once it’s released.
In the meantime, you can see the MV below.
