I help some friends take some lifestyle pictures of a new portable folding bike that they will be selling. It’s a set of 10 pictures taken at the Milbrea Bart station.

This 2nd set of 2 pictures are taken with Canon 5D MKII with Canon 24-70mm 2.8L.

No retouching done. Just crop and watermark.

So I decided to do a stop motion video as a tribute to Domo-Kun show…

Domo-Kun Fondant Cake

Originally uploaded by d.clin.design

My wife made me this cake for my birthday. It was her 3rd fondant cake. All original design of a Domo-Kun theme. From far away, it looks like a plastic toy. From close up it looks like a clay model. It’s so cute that I don’t even want to cut it. I think we might just leave it until it finally grow moldy.

The cake was shot with Canon 5D MKII, 24-70mm 2.8L, and my new birthday lens Canon 100mm 2.8L Macro.

Watch Collections

These are not all my watches. It was a product photo session in collabration with Henry Collantes.
It was quite interesting how we figure out this setup. Henry originally wanted to take a shot similar to one he saw on Watchuseek. Essentially it looks very similar to the Seiko Orange Monster in this set. After numerous trial and error, we just couldn’t light the background and keep the bezel of the watch white. After some thoughts, I dig into my arsenal of photo tips and decided to try some light painting technique. Hold and behold, that created the effect that we were looking for with the limited equipments that we had.
Many thanks to Henry for spending hours with me on figuring this out. Not to mention Henry makes a great flash holder.
This first shot is a collection. Subsequent are the individual images.

The only post processing done was cropping. All shot were done in a Soft Light Box with a sheet of black acrylic.

Shot with Canon 5D MKII, Canon 24-70mm 2.8L, Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro, Canon 480 Speedlight, Surefire Digital 2 Ultra (Thanks Chad for making buy this!! Finally found some good use for it)

Easter Cookie-1

So the wife is getting ready for Easter.  She baked some sugar cookies.  In the same session, I also shot her amazing new Fondant creation.  I know she worked really hard at it and it looks so pro!!

Shot with the same setup as the post below.

While waiting to shoot the wife’s new culinary creation, I had my light setup and started to shoot everything that was around me.  Here are a few interesting examples.

All shot with Canon 5D MKII w/ 24-70mm 2.8L

I used Dustin’s drawing paper as my seamless.  It’s not full white.  Brownish with spots.  Light setup with 4 color balanced 100 watt equivalent CFL Home Depot DIY special.  I could use more light since I did notice some light drop off.
